The replacement of an ageing 130-year-old school in Anstruther was funded by Fife Council and The Scottish Government as part of the ‘Building Fife’s Future Programme’. The new Waid Academy and Community Hub comprises of an 800-pupil school, local council and police officer base, gym & fitness suite, café, public library and auditorium.
Material was carefully selected to support the multi-purpose building and to cater for the different functions it has to offer. For the roof a standing seam system was selected with acoustic properties to help reduce the noise over the auditorium. We installed 952m2 of Elite Plus 5 and 2436m2 of Elite Plus 5A1 from Euroclad’s Euroseam range to the main building. The sheets were all rolled on site to avoid any transport problems occurring. 437m2 of red profiled Elite Plus 1 was then installed on the small annex to differentiate this section and add character to the building.
Vieo Aluminium finished profile in the colour dark grey was selected for the 2054m2 of the wall cladding.
